What do you wish you knew about your grandparents?
What do you hope your grandchildren recall about your life?
Don't let your stories disappear.

Get started on a book about your life that reads like you wrote it.

My Legacy Work is designed around a four-step process based on one main ingredient: your willingness to share your memories. If you're excited to reflect on bygone days, then we're going to have a blast. Make yourself a cuppa tea and spend some time preparing for the interviews, organizing your thoughts, perusing photos, and connecting with family and friends who know you best.

During the interviews, you'll talk, while Joy guides the conversation and helps your stories find new life. In the editing steps, Joy works with you to refine your voice as it translates from your spoken words. You'll have two opportunities to review your manuscript and walk away with a chapter book that reads as though you wrote it.

1. Interviews

Interviews are conducted by Joy (no artificial intelligence here!). We'll schedule two or three interviews that can be staged over the phone or in-person. Plan on 5-6 hours of total talk time. Interviews are recorded and can be deleted or shared with you upon completion of the project.

2.Writing

Notes from our interviews are transcribed into concise, chronological order and pulled into a chapter-book format written in the first-person voice as though you are the author. You'll receive a first draft of the Introduction to review and approve the voice before we move forward.

3. Edits & Revisions

You'll have two chances to review your manuscript and provide feedback and direction. This is a great opportunity to share the project with someone who knows you well and can help fill in the gaps, ask the right questions, and make sure we capture the details that make your life so YOU.

4.Voila!

After two rounds of editing, you'll receive a final draft of your manuscript in digital form. Our journey together ends here, unless you decide to turn your story into a printed format. The options are endless, from creating a booklet to coffee table book showcasing archives from your life.
